RELATED
Robocop (1987) 18/R
A scifi, satire, cyberpunk, action film. A awesome film. One of the most gorey, violent, dark, films ever.
But entertainment friendly. Not Saw, gore porn, rubbish.
It has got no subtley, whatsoever. It's less broad strokes, more dipping a broom in a big pot of paint.
It's satire is about corporate control, the uncaringness and bad practices of big business, and other things.
Great effects, story, etc.
What happens when Paul Verhoven and Frank Miller work together.
There is a lot of high octane nightmare fuel and fridge horror.
Officer Alex Murphy is a good husband, father, and policeman, and all round nice man.
He is killed horrifically, and made into RoboCop, by OCP.
Much grimdark, sad, gorey, stuff happens, including mind control, memory erasement, and sneaky programmes.
Eventually the mind controlled Alex breaks his programming and goes after the villains.
The world is futuristic. But being made in the 80s, it does look a bit too 80s.
It has some zeerust. Ford Taurus' were futuristic looked in 1987. But they ar'nt now.
And the computers and screens look primitive, even considering the computers from 1987.
Some of the most notable parts are his death. Which is one of the most violent and horrific things to happen to a character, ever.
And that you'll never think of the word 'acid', in the same way again, once you watch it.
There are 2 sequals, 2 live action tv shows, and 2 animated series, comics, and other things, for it.
The films got gradually worse with every time. It was driven into the ground.
................................................
DE:HR is similer in story. There is a massive easter egg in the game. In the detroit D.P.D, at the top.
Look for a room with Detective Alex Murphy and Police Officer in.
Also look on Alex Murphys computer, after knocking him out or killing him and Police Officer.
It refers to the films only. Since the wife is called Ellen.
Also in a email about Adam Jenson, in the L.I.M.B clinic. The entire games sort of a reference to it.
RoboCop (2014) PG13
The much needed reboot of the franchise that is far better than the 87 film in every single way.
It is absolutely amazing. You should definately watch this film.
It is a scifi satire action film. Subtle satire. Awesome, well done, writing, story, characters, everything.
It is calm, straight to the point, and logical. It has a very calm tone to it.
It should be judged and viewed on it's own terms.
It is a proper remake. It is the same basic concept, but a completely diferent story and focus.
Diferent story, origin, characters.
The satire is about drone warfare. The uncaringness of big business. Painting things black to be cool. And right wing political commentators. And many other things.
It has awesome effects, story, writing, etc.
The fights are all straight to the point and sensible.
The focus is on him coming to terms with his condition. And Omni-corps attempts to bring their robots to america.
It is a neutrel, grey film. The good people are white, the neutrels are grey, and the evil people are black.
The plans of Omni-corp are reasonable. The Dreyfuss Act is excessive. They are always in control and are clever forces in control.
And it is darker and more horrific than the 87 one, in parts. They don't hide ANYTHING about his injuries or his condition after he is fixed.
There is a lot of high octane nightmare fuel and fridge horror.
Omni-Corp cannot use their successful drone army in america due to the Dreyfuss Act. Everywere else is fine with it. So they come up with a way to get round it. The RoboCop Programme.
Detective Alex Murphy is a good husband, father, and policeman, and all round nice man.
He is carbombed and horrifically injured. His wife, Clara, signs him up to the RoboCop programme to save his life.
He is saved and given a cybernetic suit and becomes RoboCop. He loses most of his body.
The part were he sees himself without the cybernetics for the first time is heartbreakingly sad, and is shocking. The effects are awesome for that.
The suit is awesome, far, far, better and much more sensible than the 87 one.
He is treated like a amputee who has lost most of his body. Not a experiment.
He knows who he is. But he gradually loses control as pressure mounts from Omni-corp.
Eventually he has no emotions, and only his love for his family breaks their control.
Eventually he takes out all the villains.
And he and his wife and son are together and it has a happy ending.
The world is less dystopian, grimdark, than the 87 one. But is still dark, cyberpunk and dystopian.
The world is futuristic, and convincing.
There are lots of standout moments. But the scenes without his cybernetics on is standout.
It is like DE:HR. VERY like DE:HR. It has cybernetic prosthetics that are affected by emotions,.
There are toys, comics, etc.
In-game
The same as the 87 film, mostly. Being the same concept.
Detective Alex Murphys rank and name in the Robocop easter egg is the same as the film.
That is prophetic.

REFERENCED IN-GAME
Bladerunner
A cyberpunk, scifi, film.
Based on Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep.
A private detective hunts down rogue androids, known as replicants, for people.
Corporations scheme, villains do villainous things, conspiracies in conspiracies, nothing is what it seems. The usual cyberpunk stuff.
It is very overated. but it's ok.
It's got some serious zeerust, though. The computers look primitive, even when you think of what computers looked like in 1980.
It get's especially bad in one grindingly boring sequence, as Deckard excruciatingly slowly tries to tell if the female leads a replicant. Using a computer which does'nt convince. I would'nt rule out it having a piece of plastic taped over the screen.
There is a big Bladerunner easter egg on the first floor of the D.P.D computers, in the scifi login and passwords easter eggs.
Some of the music is like Bladerunner too.
Universal Soldier
Scifi, cyberpunk, action, film.
The militery rebuilds dead soldiers into cybernetic killers with their minds controlled.
Eventually two remember who they are. One is good, one is bad.
There are loads of sequals. And it got retconned in the 2009 film.
They got worse as they continued. But the second film was good.
In-Game
The film that Detective Alex Murphy mentions in the RoboCop easter egg is Universal Soldier.
Starship Troopers
Cyberpunk, scifi, action
Based on a book.
In a dark, totalitarian, militeristic, future, the forces of earth wage war on giant insects.
Some teenagers sign up to be space marines.
It's by Paul Verhoven, who made the 1987 RoboCop. And is only a bit less subtle. As in, not at all.
But were the RoboCop works. This does'nt.
It has some of the most retardly cretinous tactics ever seen on film.
He shows the treatment of the Mobile Infantry, by quite literally having a soldier hold their arm out, ready to get it burnt off.
They quite clearly have giant , planet nuking, spaceships. But use loads of troops instead. Against hoardes of giant insects.
The sequals make more sense. Like RoboCop, there is in film programmes and adverts. They say, 'Would you like to know more?' in them.
The phrase 'Do you want to know more', will be burnt into your brain after this.
It's fun, but stupid. The bad tactics will bother the most untactically minded person.
There are 2 sequals, and other things.
The sequals make more sense and fix some flaws in the first one. Some even have mechas, etc.
In-game
Eliza Cassan says 'Do you want to know more?', after the boss fight.

The first film is good, the other 2 are terrible.
There is a cartoon that is said to be better than the 2 sequals, called The Animatrix.
Vexille
Cyberpunk, scifi, anime film. It's awesome.
Vexille and her partner investigate why Japan has disapeared off the radar, after androids appear in america.
The truth is horrific.
Vexille is very beautiful.
Appleseed (1988)
Cyberpunk, scifi, anime, film.
Deunen and Briareos are police officers, and keep safe the city of Olympus. In a world that is torn apart by war.
Deunan is a hardcore warrior. And Briareos is a cyborg. They are girlfriend and boyfriend.
The villains scheme, there are some spectacularly stupid things.
Olympus is run by retards, basically. The villains, baring the cyborg, are all cretins. The main villain is'nt completely wrong, though. The leader, Athena, is a bitch, but sensible. And the security plans are retardly stupid.
But it makes a hell of a lot more sense than the 2004 one!
The story is way better than the 2004 one.
It has got some zeerust. Deunen uses a typewriter. And the phones look like fax machine/wordprocessor/old computer/typewriter, hybrids.
The characters are all warm and likable. Deunan and Briaeos are more warm than the 2004 film.
The clothes make sense, being practical.
Good leads, terrible setting.
Appleseed (2004)
Scifi, cyberpunk, dark, anime film.
Deunen and Briareos protect Olympus from threats. Deunen is a hardcore soldier. Briareos is a cyborg. They are girlfriend and boyfriend.
While hiding out in wartorn wastelands, fighting a war that ended, Deunan is rescued and brought to Olympus. There she meets her lover, Briareos, who she thought dead, and is now a cyborg.
The face off some of the most retardly cretinous villains ever. With some of the most obnoxiously unpleasant beings ever.
The villains, story, evil plan, is grindingly stupid.
Athena has a freaking mullet! FFS! The Athena in the 88 one has 80s big hair, thank goodness.
Believe me, 80s big hair is wayyyy better than this!
That bleeding mullet is something you'd expect to see from the 88 one! Not the 2004 one!
This Athena is all bigged up to be some good leader. And she's just a stupid biatch who has horrifically bad style!
Good cgi animation. But really stupid plot
There is a second film I hav'nt seen yet, but I will.
I, Robot
Cyberpunk, scifi.
A robot goes rogue, and a policeman relentlessly pursues the complex mystery as to why.
Conspirices in conspiricies, etc, all the cyberpunk usual.
It's ok.
Minority Report
Cyberpunk, scifi.
In a stupid future, all big brother, gene coded scanner security, etc.
They stop crime before it happens, by using Pre Cogs to arrest people before they do it.
Which is retardly stupid, not remotely legal, and ridiculous.
The Pre Cogs are 4 poor psychics, they sedated and kept tied to machines.
A policeman sees he will commit a crime, and makes a run for it with a female Pre Cog.
It's stupid, flashy, and makes no sense whatsoever.
Then this is the place for you! Collossal steeples to the gods in the machines abound here! There are many new black golds.
The things are not always good. But you might like them.
