Greetings!
Tis I, Commander Viviax.
The game we are reviewing today is
Marvel S.T.R.I.K.E Force.
MSF is a turn based game were you collect characters and they fight in a team of up to 5. With one or two extras, depending on the mission.
Lots Of Diferent Campaigns And A Odd Split
They have diferent Campaign modes.
Heroes Assemble and Villains United. HA is Heroes only. VU is Villains only.
They have split the Anti Heroes into Heroes or Villains. They don't always make sense. Venom is a Villain, even though hes more good. The Punisher is a Hero. Elektra is a Villain. Which seems off. As I only have 6 Villains, I cannot say more, for now. Merceneries are Villains. Though they'd be neutral, potentially.
Maybe there were not enough Anti Heroes to warrant a seperate campaign.
Into The Nexus, were you can use all your characters.
You can join a Clan and fight others. Once you hit 30 you get sorted into a clan. But you can join another. Clans can fight each other or do Raid.
Very Good Difficulty Levels
The Difficulty is very well done. Hard enough to be a challenge and make you work for it. But not too hard and not fun.
Gachapon Style Collecting
To collect characters and supplies, etc. You open Orbs. shards of characters or supplies come out. Once you get enough shards you can recruit the characters. Extra shards help them level up and Upgrade.
It benefits one to collect even those you don't like. Because their presence means you can do some Events, you couldn't do otherwise. Some Events require a amount of specific types. Like Spiderverse. Or 5 Ravagers or Guardians.
A Good Mix Of Characters
So, obviously. Marvel has a LOT of characters when it comes to games. And there is a lot here. They add more as time goes on.
Some I never heard of before. Like Deathpool, Lady Death and Deadpools daughter. Kestrel. The Scientist Supreme, Leader of A.I.M.
You can drive to get your favourites fairly well.
There is also a bit of Mookitis. There is a lot of more generic characters from factions. Like S.H.I.E.L.D Medic, that they give you. Or Mercenery Riot Guard. Operaters.
There are characters from comics, films, TV, etc. They don't look like their original sometimes. They're a comic, unique, version.
A Odd Lack Of Healers
There is a odd lack of Healers in the game. AOE or Group ones. I have 1 Group Healer. S.H.I.E.L.D Medic. That is the only one. Mantis appears to be AOE.
The Villains have no AOE or Group Healer at all. The only thing they have is Venoms Symbiosis. Were they heal themself. And that is random and passive. Mercenery Riot Guard and Crossbones have Taunt. Which buffs them. For a while the Villains had to carve through campaign with three of them, Venom, Crossbones, and Bullseye, and no healing at all. They only got any healing at all, once Venom unlocked Symbiosis. And that is only themself.
Maybe there are more Healers with AOE and Group in people I have not unlocked.
Costumes And History
The characters have Costumes. Alternate looks. And it has a history of when and how they got them. What comic issue, film, episode, etc, it was. Not all have them. Maybe more will be added, hopefully.
You buy them with credits that come from a Costume Orb. They are purely cosmetic. Which is what you want.
A View Into Other Things
They have characters that are from things that are out and are yet to come out. Like Spider-Mans black and gold costume from Spider-Man: No Way Home. This also gives a hint to the plot of the film.
Mechanics
You have up to 5 of your characters. And maybe 1 or 2 extras the game gives you. Sometimes you have to protect people.
You keep going till someone blocks or dodges, etc a attack. Then they go. Till you dodge or block, etc.
Your characters have 2 or 3 active and on screen in Skills maximum. But they can have up to 4 Skills. Some have 3 Skills and some have 4. The 3rd 0r 4th Skill is passive. it activates on its own, the amount depends on luck and if there elements to make it happen more often. The 3 active Skills are a Normal, Special, and Ultimate. you add Energy to use Special and Ultimate. Special is sometimes lethal and Ultimate is more AOE. Sometimes Special is a Taunt or Buff or both.
Characters can act on their own if another character tells them to help. Some characters make each other stronger when together.
It is not a very big game and it doesnt run your device down too much.
Graphically it is very good. Beautiful. Every character does a lot of random and diferent things. Everything is moving constantly.
It can stick and crash. But they keep working on it.
There is lots of diferent game modes.
Campaign, Blitz, Raid, Events, etc. I cannot play them all yet. Not high enough.
Lots of diferent currencies. Its bordering on Love Nikki Dress-Up Queen levels.
Very Good Story And Writing
You play as a S.T.R.I.K.E Commander. S.T.R.I.K.E stands for Special Tactical Reserve For International Key Emergencies. S.T.R.I.K.E is part of S.H.I.E.LD.
Campaign starts with Heroes Assemble.
Nick Fury summons Spider-Man because Ultimus is coming for Nexus Earth. A world connected to all the other Earths. He is brainwashing heroes and villains to use them to conquer worlds. If he conquers Nexus Earth, he will have access to all Earths. There are multiple ammounts of characters. Sometimes you have to fight a group of one character or 2 characters.
He gives you Spider-Man and S.H.I.E.L.D Medic. You later get The Punisher.
You have to unlock Villains United by unlocking 3 Villains.
Villains United starts some villains being recruited by Nick Fury to take down brainwashed enemy factions.
The writing is very good and fun. Funny.
Wierd Chat
The chat is a bit wierd.
